As one of the nation’s leading authorities on regulatory compliance and legal strategy within the sports and fitness industry, Charles C. Weller is accountable for overseeing all legal matters at ALR Industries. He is directly responsible for ensuring ALR Industries’ compliance with federal laws and FDA regulations. As an athlete himself, Charles partners his legal expertise and first-hand knowledge of the fitness industry to provide legal counsel for the global corporation.
Originally from San Jose, California, Charles began his journey in fitness by competing in martial arts. He received a Black Belt in Kenpo Karate, which he began supplementing with strength training. While attending the University of California, San Diego as a Political Science student, Charles became a Certified Personal Trainer to supplement his income so he could attain his dream of going to law school. While at the California Western School of Law, San Diego, Charles was the President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and clerked at MP3.com for the in-house legal counsel.
Upon graduating from law school, Charles worked for a criminal defense firm focusing on white-collar crimes. From there he joined a start-up research and development company as their in-house counsel where he managed all of the civil litigation and day-to-day legal matters to protect the company’s intellectual property. He left to create his own firm focusing on civil and business litigation. While overseeing his own firm’s growth, it was then that he decided to combine his love of fitness with his passion for the law by founding FitnessLawyer.com to focus on premier legal representation for the fitness industry. After working closely with Author L. Rea and ALR Industries for several years, he joined permanently as Chief Legal Counsel.
Charles holds a Juris Doctorate from the California Western School of Law, San Diego and a B.S. in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego. He is a member of the American, San Diego County and California State Bar Associations.
